Polyisobutylene For Insulated Glass Sealant

polyisobutylene-based hot melt sealants specially formulated for use in the production of insulating glass units
They should always be used as primary sealants in combination with compatible secondary polysulphide or polyurethane sealant.

MB-15 Polyisobutylene For Insulated glass sealant

Medium-molecular Weight polyisobutylene (MPIB), characterized by its balanced viscoelasticity, excellent weather resistance, and environmental protection advantages, serves as an ideal material for high-end sealing applications in glass sealants. Particularly in scenarios demanding long-term durability, dynamic stress adaptation, and environmental sustainability (e.g., building curtain walls, new energy vehicles), M PIB-based sealants are progressively replacing conventional materials, thereby driving the industry towad high-performance and sustainable development.

Excellent Adhesion and Cohesion: The medium molecular weight of MPIB allows it to effectively penetrate the micropores on the glass surface, forming robust physical adsorption. Through cohesive forces, it resists external peeling stresses, thereby ensuring long-term and reliable bonding between glass and substrates such as metal and plastic.
Anti-Ultraviolet Aging: The stable molecular structure of MPIB ensures resistance to degradation under prolonged exposure to sunlight (UV radiation), preventing sealant embrittlement and failure.
Moisture and Chemical Resistance: It effectively blocks the corrosive effects of rain, snow melt agents (salt spray), and industrial pollutants, significantly extending the lifespan of the glass sealing system.
Temperature-resistance Range: -50℃ to 100℃
Environmental Protection: Low VOC emissions, no migration of small molecules.

FAQ

Q: What is the main advantage of MPIB? ( Medium molecular weight Polyisobutylene)

A: Excellent Adhesion and Cohesion; Dynamic flexibility and deformation adaptation; Excellent weather resistance and chemical stability

Q: What is the limitations of MPIB( Medium molecular weight Polyisobutylene) and countermeasures?

A: Low high temperature limit: MM PIB may soften at temperatures above 100°C and needs to be cross-linked modified (e.g., radiation vulcanization) to improve heat resistance.
